Running Balance

Running Balance is the story of how my family of four (two adults, two kids under six) makes it on one income. (Mine.)

In 2020 I declared bankruptcy and cleared almost $50,000 of debt. I also started a M.Ed. program with the goal of becoming an early childhood educator after my graduation in 2022.

I’m interested in class, the cultural perception of people who receive government benefits, the intersection of mental health and money, and all the different approaches that people have to managing their own running balances.

You can read an interview with me and my husband at Vox's Money Talks series.
